Glad you could make it. The plan here with this blog is to document what goes on with my brother and I during these next few months in Asia. Our plan is to bicycle from Singapore and end in Tokyo, Japan. I am going to try and update as often as I can but no promises!
Kevin's Favourite Countries to Cycle
A list from best to worst. Note that Singapore isn't on this list since it is sooo small... only took a few hours to get through the country... so cannot put it on this list...
1. Japan - Pros: superb scenery, excellent roads, manga kissas, quiet vehicles, the only country I whooped Trevor's ass in cycling; Cons: way too expensive!
2. Thailand - Pros: A 7-11 everywhere throughout the country, cheap, solid wide roads; Cons: the heat... too hot for me
3. South Korea - Pros: great roads, delicious popsicles, nice scenic routes off the main roads, free bottled water at gas stations; Cons: pricey... well coming from China it was sure a step up!
4. Malaysia - Pros: really cheap, easy communication as English known everywhere, yummy popsicles... especially the ice grape and traffic light; Cons: extremely hot... my heart was pumping way too fast on most days
5. China - Pros: some of the best food... we ate like kings, cheap; Cons: Some areas the roads were horrendous, we were stared at a lot (wasn't so bad but gets tiresome and annoying after awhile), horn friendly
6. Laos - Pros: very quiet, good roads; Cons: worried that an infected mosquito will give me malaria, not many places to snack or have a drink, very hilly
7. Vietnam - Pros: Errr... hmmm... entering the country we had about 25 km of downhill... it was fun and that was about it; Cons: where to begin... the horns! ... never ending horn honking, warm drinks, people touching stuff that isn't theirs, people driving any which way they please... coming from all directions, 2 lanes on the national highway... meaning not much room for cyclists, weak infrastructure... I will stop now before it gets too long...

Kevin's Favourite City to Cycle
Singapore - Okay lah... so maybe a wee bit biased here but I really like it there. I know the area, convenience stores everywhere, if I get too hot I can go for an ice kacang anywhere, excellent paved roads. It was nice cycling from Sentosa to the Merlion and going by my old running route and then passing the area I used to live in on the way to Woodlands... I enjoyed it lah. And then stopping at my local grocery store Sheng Siong and downing a cold liter of Marigold Milk... Oh yeah and getting a free traditional Singaporean breakfast from Samantha sealed the deal... so really how cannot put Singapore as my number one favourite city to cycle??? Ask you... how cannot???
Honorable mention however goes to Seoul - After getting off the ferry late in the evening we cycled into the night and it was the only time we enjoyed cycling in the dark. Also cycling around the city and out was pleasant during the day... good times...

Charity
A few charities I am down with and will try and spread the word about along the way are:
WWF - I like animals and not seeing them becoming extinct. Also I like to breathe fresh air and nature. As such conserving the global environment I support big time. If you share these views as well, there is more information at http://www.wwf.org/.
Plan Canada - After travelling to a few places it quickly came to realization that there are TOO MANY underprivileged children that live in adverse conditions throughout the world. This organization does many positive things around the world that helps these chilren, their families and communities. For more information please go to http://www.plancanada.ca/.
